What is a solar battery?
Solar battery storage allows you to store electricity generated from the sun via your solar panels to use in the evening or at a later date. Adding a solar battery system is a great way to use renewable energy to increase your independence from the grid.

Adding solar battery storage
Solar panels generate the most energy throughout the day when, traditionally, homes use the least amount of electricity. This means your solar PV system will be producing a lot of surplus energy that would otherwise be wasted. Adding a battery allows you to store this extra electricity to use as and when you want.
You could choose to use the excess energy stored in your battery to power your home in the evening, making you even more independent from the grid or you could charge your electric vehicle, increasing the amount of clean energy used by your family.
Adding a battery could mean that the bulk of the electricity used by your home is low-carbon energy generated from the sun, meaning you’ll import less electricity from the grid, saving you money on your energy bills. Get a solar battery

What are our solar batteries made of?
We use lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery chemistry, which is one of the safest types of lithium-ion batteries. LFP batteries can also do more charge/discharge cycles than other solar batteries, without the environmental concerns relating to cobalt-based batteries.
How big are solar batteries?
On average a battery is similar in size to carry-on hand luggage which you'd take on holiday.
You’ll need somewhere to house the battery and system, they can be installed in most places such as in a garage, utility room or even under the stairs.
Where will the battery be installed?
We will conduct a full survey of your home that will help you to decide on the best location for your battery. It has to be fairly close to your main consumer unit so we have to take that into account but we normally try to put it in a cupboard, garage, utility room or somewhere similar.
Can I have the battery in the loft?
Yes. Unlike the older batteries, which were too heavy, the new ones are much lighter and can be placed in a loft.
Can solar panels work without battery storage?
You don't need to have a battery for your solar PV panels to work. However, energy storage allows you to use more of the eco-friendly energy you generate in your home rather than exporting it back to the grid.
